For many parents, these are milestones of childhood. Anticipated and celebrated, but also taken for granted. For many parents of children with disabilities, however, these milestones are have seemed unobtainable.
The Be Well Health and Fitness Club for patients at Cincinnati Children's Hospital is giving kids with disabilities new ways to achieve health and wellness through fitness, in ways that many thought were not possible before. We're proud to announce that proceeds from Design Cincinnati Presented by ClearArc Capital will continue to support this innovative wellness program run by the Physical and Occupational Therapy Department.
This club allows the therapists to transition their patients from weekly traditional physical therapy sessions at the hospital to city-wide health and fitness opportunities. The patients are able to meet their prescribed physical therapy goals while making connections with their peers and interacting with their community. Some of the activities the children participate in are running a 5K, planting a garden, counting their steps on Fitbit devices, learning yoga and playing golf. You may call these milestones. We think they are little miracles.
The Be Well Club has made a positive impact on the lives of patients at Children's and we are proud to provide funding for this impactful program.
