Design Cincinnati presented by ClearArc Capital really gets our creativity flowing. For us, it all starts in the planning as we sift through color schemes, linens, centerpieces, tableware, menu and more to create an event that reflects the spirit and energy of our celebrity speaker. For our guests, we hope that our lecture and luncheon leaves you inspired and wanting to redecorate a room, throw a party or roll up your sleeves and try something new in the garden.
This year, your creativity will extend well beyond the doors of Anderson Pavilion as we announce Design Cincinnati Workshops.
This is the year to get your creativity flowing and your hands dirty.
Our 2017 Design Cincinnati speaker, Eddie Ross, is a DIY kindred spirit. As you look through his book, Modern Mix, you’ll see that his table settings and rooms are decorated with flea market finds, up-cycled garage sale treasures and handcrafted, natural centerpieces. The more we see of Eddie Ross’ handiwork, the more do-it-yourself projects we want to try for ourselves. And we know, as you get to know him, you’ll feel the same way.
We’ve noticed artisanal workshops popping up throughout our community—they sell out within minutes. The MakerSpace offered by the public library is crowded with eager DIYers. Specialty shops, catering to students of handicrafts, culinary arts and artful entertaining, are popping up across the country. So we’re making it easy for you to continue on the wave of creativity that Eddie Ross is sure to inspire.
We’ve gathered a group of artisans, collectors, chefs and designers who are ready to share their talent and inspiration with you with a series of workshops. Both before and after our lecture and luncheon on October 13th, you can explore the offerings from this talented crew and see what skill you want to learn--including floral design, calligraphy, home decor, artisanal cuisine and more.
Then, at Design Cincinnati, You’ll be able to sign up for these workshops that will take place at different dates, times and locations throughout the year. You’ll have the chance to see new spaces, learn new skills and meet new people. Each workshop will be offered for a fee, with a percentage of proceeds benefiting the OT/PT Department of Cincinnati Children’s. Check back often as we continue to fine tune this event and add workshops. We’re thrilled about this new aspect of our event, and think that you will love it, too.
Do you have a skill you’d like to teach? Or one that you’d like to learn? Let us know!
